The section was founded in March 1966, upon the initiative presented by Dragoljub Urošević MD, PhD, Olivera Mijalković MD, and group of the first and second generation of general practice specialists: Spiridon Gikas MD, Jovanka Mutavdžić MD, Ana Mutić - Trifunović MD, Dane Žigić MD and Lazar Bijelić MD.

Conference of the Serbian general practitioners with international participants 2022.
The Section of General Medicine of the Serbian Medical Society is organizing the Conference of the Serbian general practitioners with international participants, from September 23-25, 2022 in Vrnjacka banja. Conference themes are:
- Diagnostic and therapeutic novelties in the treatment of chronic diseases
- Challenges in general practitioner`s work during a time of crisis
We invite all GPs to take active participation in our conference with their oral or poster presentations. The deadline for submission is August 15th, 2022. The accreditation of the conference with the Health Council of Serbia is planned for July.
Instructions for abstract submission: it may contain up to 250 words; each participant may submit max 2 abstracts, as the leading author, and 2 as co-author.
